What do you do if bitten by a cottonmouth snake?

i am going to be working with a land surveying team. the marsh that we are surveying has a substantially high concentration of cottonmouth snakes due to being the perfect for them. what should i do if a snake does bite one of us, and what good prevention measures should we take?
